One such inseparable part of our lives is Google’s mapping service—Google Maps. Today, is one of the indispensable mapping services in the world, as our world moves on it. With such an extensive use of Maps, we bring to you some of the quick tips to make Google Maps a more amazing tool.
Share Your Real-Time Location
Now you can share your real-time location with multiple people. Tap the navigation drawer of the Google Maps app and you would find an option- Share Location. It gives you 2-time duration options; set a time and the second manual turn it off. The location is shared by the way of a link (URL). Maps give you a lot of options to share the location through a link like- WhatsApp, Messenger, Hangouts, Gmail and many more. Once the recipient clicks the link, he/she would be able to share their location with you. Location Map sharing is an amazing feature, especially when you are planning to meet up someone.
Save Your Parking

You can now not forget where you parked your vehicle in a confusing basement parking of a mall. All you need to do is open Maps and tap on the blue dot. You would get an option- Save your parking. You can add notes, photos and even set time of the validity of the parking spot.
While on a long journey, you might need a lot of stoppages and Google can help you with all that halting. When you get the blue route on the Maps (from the source to destination), you need to tap the 3 dots on right top corner, which would give you an option to ‘Add stop’. You can simply add stops through your journey and also change the priorities.
Book a Cab
Well, we all have Ubers now and a cab is just a tap away. The ride-hailing apps take a lot of space in the phones, how about if get all these apps in one app. Yes, Google Maps lets you book a cab from multiple cab services. After getting the blue route, check out one of the riding options in the modes of traveling (icons) provided by Google (Car, Bike, Public Transport, Walking and swipe a little right and you would have Ride). You would get options for all the major cab services with availability, pricing and the wait time in real-time.
You get multiple route options when you search for a route on Google maps. Although the routes tell you about everything but one thing, and that is a toll booth. If you want to get toll-free routes, all you need to do is, once Maps shows you the route, tap the menu button and once again tap on ‘route options’. A new window showing ‘options’ would open, on which you can check the ‘Avoid toll roads’ option, and there you are heading without tolls. Well, at times paying a toll is much cheaper than a detour.
Save & Navigate
This is an amazingly useful feature that Google has recently added to Maps. Google integrated Gmail, Maps and the calendar app on Android. If you have scheduled a future meeting or visit your calendar or Gmail, Maps would fetch the information from their and save you from the hassle of feeding source and destination. Tap the hamburger menu on the top left, the first option that pops up would be ‘Your places’. Tap again and you get a couple of more options- Labelled, Saved, Upcoming, Visited and Maps. Now tap ‘Upcoming’ and it would show all the scheduled visits. Tap the visit you are going for, and Maps would navigate you through without typing anything.
