Proposed US bill would force smartphone companies to hack encrypted phones

A proposal from two senior U.S senators will require the smartphone companies to decrypt data whenever law enforcement demands “To uphold the rule of law and protect the security and interests of the United States, all persons receiving an authorized judicial order for information or data must provide, in a timely manner, responsive and intelligible information or data, or appropriate technical assistance to obtain such information or data” says the draft. The sentence is likely to be more controversial with many opposing it, and seems to pursue the recent debate regarding encryption with Apple. Read more.
