Is it a camera? It is a smartphone? Well, it seems that Lenovo’s Latest Smartphone entrant sports the best of both. In today’s competitive market where companies are trying to come up with a unique selling proposition which would give them leverage, it has become quintessential to innovate constantly. With the Lenovo Vibe Shot, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is planning on targeting new market share, specifically in the camera segment.
From the moment you pick up the device in your hands, you will get to experience a premium feel that is delivered by the brushed metal surface and an amazing design which gives a camera like appearance to the back portion of the phone. The metal appeal of the phone is accentuated with the thin light aluminium frame and a solid form factor.
The camera aspect of this smartphone is related to the presence of a dedicated physical control for clicking the pictures. After all, what good is a camera phone that doesn’t give the feeling of actually operating a camera? It’s all in the button! This can be leveraged as a USP because the physical button in a camera smartphone has been missing in action from quite a long time. People prefer a physical button for the camera feature instead of a touch screen interface because it helps them to take a pic when they have perfectly timed everything.
In order to make switching between the smart mode and the pro-mode easy, Lenovo has provided a physical slider which only needs to be moved as per need. You can great shots with the 16 MP shooter with OIS and tricolour flash. Just take out the Lenovo Vibe Shot whenever you see a great picture clicking opportunity and start clicking away. For those who are obsessed with taking selfies, the smartphone would prove to be a life saver as it sports an 8 MP front shooter. Getting crisp and clear photos from the front camera would not be a seemingly impossible task.
This is truly the Holy Grail for budding photography enthusiasts and amateur mobile photographers who like to capture the world in priceless moments. The device has a fullframe 16:9 low-light sensor that is great for shooting images in dark interiors or during low light conditions. The tricolour flash allows the luminosity to be adjusted automatically as per the prevailing conditions. The optical image stabilizer keeps the pics sharp by reducing blur. This is what makes a world of a difference in the way the images are captured.
For those who have a tough time maintaining a steady focus while taking a pic, the Vibe Shot has an infrared focus which is twice as fast as a normal autofocus component. This should help you to get those perfectly timed shots without worrying about taking multiple pics to select the best pics later. Life is never perfect and getting the right moments for taking pics are very rare. With the Lenovo Vibe Shot, you would always have a powerful mobile image capturing device at your disposal.
On a performance front, the Lenovo Vibe Shot packs in a 64 bit, 1.7 GHz, Snapdragon 615 processor along with 3 GB RAM. The configuration is capable of delivering high performance with seamless switching between apps as well smooth touch interface. Ideally, you should not face any issues pertaining to lagging. But lagging could result from various other factors that may or may not be under the control of the user. This would also be one of the few phones in the market to have 3GB of RAM. We have seen 3GB RAM devices performing well. It would be interesting to see whether this phone can deliver as per expectations.
For a smartphone that is dedicated to pictures and videos, memory is an important factor that would bring about a world of difference for the end user experience. The phone comes with an internal storage of 32 GB which can be further expanded to 128 GB with the use of a microSD card. This clearly indicates that storage space is not going to be an issue for users who purchase this smartphone. 128 GB is a lot of space and you don’t need to store every single photo on the phone itself. The phone will have the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop running on it and from the specs that are on this device, further updates to Android should be compatible with it.
Lenovo commented on its upcoming smartphone where it expressed the capabilities that would be available on this mobile device. The company said, “When it’s time to talk or stay connected, the VIBE Shot steps up to the plate with a gorgeous 5-in FHD display and equally powerful performance. Running Android 5.0 Lollipop on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the smartphone offers a generous 32 GB of storage with a microSD option to storage an additional 128 GB of music, movies and photos. Upload and download data quickly with LTE or connect via Wi-Fi hotspot and even manage separate data plans with dual SIM capabilities. The VIBE Shot makes it easy to change from photographer to subject with its 8-megapixel selfie camera. All this functionality comes in a sleek, thin and light aluminium frame — available in red, white or grey.”
