Judging from parts alone, Samsung’s upcoming model of the Galaxy Note Series the Galaxy Note 4 is the most expensive Smartphone Samsung has ever made. The new Galaxy Note 4 comes with a huge 5.7-inch high resolution QHD (1440×2560) display which accounts for $66.50 of the total production cost. The cost for the parts and assembly of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is around $260, which is more costly than the parts and the assembly charges for the Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Keep in mind that other expenses associated with consumer technology like research and development, packaging ,marketing costs ,licensing , distribution, software support and app development etc. have not been taken into account.
Apple’s newly launched iphone 6 and the iphone 6 plus are not too far behind the Galaxy Note 4. According to the Estimates the iPhone 6 costs around $227 for parts and assembly while the iPhone 6 plus costs around $242.But for the consumers opting to buy Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus rather than the iPhone 6, would cost them $100 extra because of the additional 0.8 inches of screen size. However, for Apple, the iPhone 6 Plus costs only about $16 more to produce.
The next most expensive component on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 after the screen is the processor, which costs around $40.50. The device has a 16-megapixel main camera module which costs around $25.50 and the rest of the other Galaxy Note 4 components cost less than $20, including the device’s connectivity modules which includes cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which costs around $12.50.
The new iPhones have been available to most of the global markets worldwide since Sept. 19 and already 10 million plus units have been sold-out. Meanwhile, Samsung says it is aiming to ship a record of 15 million Galaxy Note 4 units within its first month of availability, and it is going to be the first time that Samsung is going to ship so many units of any major Smartphone together. It’s really going to be a tough competition for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 not only against Apple’s iPhone6 and iPhone 6 Plus but also against the domestic smartphone makers in India and China.
