So finally we are going to tell you about the possible devices that would get the Android M update when it releases. This should put an end to questions like “Will my smartphone be upgraded to Android M?” Ever since Android M was revealed at Google I/O Developers Conference this year, every android user has become restless and is waiting in anticipation of an update being released for the new OS.
At the conference, Senior VP Sunder Pichai announced that the company had spent quite a lot of efforts on improving the software and taking care of less efficient aspects, rather than focusing on bringing about changes in its design. I am sure that all of you are just as excited as I am for getting the Android M update.
Here are some smartphones that would (in all probabilities) get the update.
This must not have come as a surprise to you. After all, Nexus does enjoy the benefit of being the first device to get all of Google’s updates, including the latest OS versions. As of now, the developer preview for Android M has already been made available for Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player. If you have any of these devices, then you can get the latest Android OS and enjoy its enhanced features.
Motorola has always been known for providing timely updates to its android powered devices, even though it may not be one of the first ones to do so. Moto X and Moto would be getting the new OS updates followed by Moto G. However, Moto E has been excluded from the list so if you own this phone, you would not be able to enjoy the features of Android M.
HTC has (in a rather bold step) made an announcement that its line of smartphones would be receiving the Android M update. HTC One M9 and One M9+, the flagship devices of the company, would be the first to get the update. While there has no clarification from the company with respect to the other phones which are scheduled to get the update. But there is a high probability that the HTC One E9 and the previous-gen One M8 would be getting it next.
Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S5 and Samsung Note 4 are the devices that would be getting the Android M update in the Samsung faction. Although, no official statement has been made from the company, the flagship devices have the hardware configuration and support to receive the new OS. There is also a probability that the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 5 may come with the new OS out of the box. Even if this doesn’t happen, the device would get the update post release.
OnePlus is expected to bring out the successor to the OnePlus One, the OnePlus Two which would be more than capable and eligible for receiving the update. The company is known for providing timely updates for its smartphones. The interesting thing about this particular line of smartphone is that OxygenOS as well as Cyanogen could be brought out in their Android M versions soon.
